Equality For All Texans

Certain Affinity understands that strength comes from diversity. Furthermore, our values require that we stand firm with our co-workers, colleagues, and the LGBTQ community at large in the face of the recent directive from the Texas Governor’s Office pertaining to the treatment of trans youth. We envision and believe in a Texas where every member of the LGBTQ community, including parents and their children, have full equality and opportunity under the law, and equal protection from harassment and discrimination. This latest directive from the highest levels of the government of the State of Texas is an unprecedented and extra-legal attack against both universal best-practices established for medical care and the rights of children, parents, families, and other fellow Texans.

To help combat this infringement against individual rights, we have donated to two organizations: Texas Competes and Equality Texas. These are both strong advocates for keeping the state a safe and welcoming place for all. We have also taken the Texas Competes Pledge, which reads:

We are committed to promoting a competitive, economically vibrant Texas.

We believe that in order for Texas businesses to compete for top talent, we must have workplaces and communities that are diverse and welcoming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

We believe that treating all Texans and visitors fairly is essential to maintaining Texas’ strong brand as the premier home for talented workers, growing businesses, entrepreneurial innovation, and a thriving travel and tourism industry.

It’s time to ensure fairness for all Texas employees, residents, and consumers. A united Texas is a competitive Texas. And when Texas competes, Texas wins.

We encourage other businesses to take this pledge, and both businesses and individuals to donate to these worthy organizations. We also ask you all to not be silent in the face of this assault on some of our most vulnerable community members.

Thank you.
