Our Core Values:

Quality

We are champions for quality, constantly pushing ourselves to achieve greatness. We hire incredible employees to create world-class games. We care about every aspect of the player experience, and channel that passion into every aspect of our business.

Collaboration

We work as a team, deriving strength from our collective talent and experience. We seek and give honest feedback to improve our work and our working environment. Our candor is built on a bedrock of mutual respect, trust, and a common vision.

Agility

We recognize that our business changes quickly and plan for the unexpected. We embrace the challenge of adapting to new circumstances. We are flexible in seeking solutions and strive to constantly improve ourselves and our processes.

Humility

We are proud without excessive ego or entitlement. We celebrate our successes and acknowledge our shortcomings. We believe excellence is a process, not a product, and never stop looking for ways to support and enhance one another, our company, and our games.

Respect

We acknowledge our differences and provide a safe, supportive environment for all individuals. We know that our people drive our success and that there’s strength in diversity. We expect a high standard of civility because our team, our partners, our community, and our customers deserve it.

Community

We promote communal bonds and shared values within our company, locally, in our industry, and within our games’ communities. We give back to those who have contributed to our success, to help set others up for success, and to ensure the continuity of our values.

About Us

Certain Affinity (CA) was founded in 2006 as a bootstrap startup with the goal of creating innovative, top-quality action games. CA brings together an exceptionally experienced, unusually talented group to form one of the largest independent developers in Austin, Texas. The company's 160+ full-time employees include veterans from dozens of successful game studios, with Max Hoberman, CA's founder and former Multiplayer and Online Lead for the Halo series, serving as President.

Life & Culture

Our company culture reflects the vibrant nature of the city we call home. Certain Affinity's headquarters are close to downtown Austin, commuter-friendly and close to parks, restaurants, and other amenities. Employee-led groups encompass everything from live music outings and Ultimate Frisbee leagues to figure-drawing sessions and board-gaming. We embrace Austin's diverse, creative, and easygoing nature, and we love adding like-minded people to our team.

We are thrilled to be going international and to set up our second studio in Toronto, Canada. At first glance, our second home in the Great White North may seem very different from Austin but the two cities have more in common than you might think: a diverse populace, a strong sense of community, a belief in environmental responsibility, a high quality-of-life standard, and some of the world’s finest food. But as the fourth-largest city in North America, Toronto also boasts over 6.4 million people, a burgeoning tech sector, growing art, and creative scene, and a gaggle of prestigious universities — a great place for a growing company like Certain Affinity to set up shop.

We've grown into a game development powerhouse, without losing our small studio heart and priorities.

After ten years of success, we’re branching out into developing original IP (while still helping out other developers ship huge titles) and planning for expansion...not layoffs. We never want to lose sight of the core tenets that have made our company — and our employees — so successful.
