For all of us, 2020 was an unprecedented year, full of learnings, challenges, and adjustments. It tested our resilience, optimism, and tenacity as individuals, as a company, and as a community. We are really proud of our team at Certain Affinity for being flexible, staying focused, and giving it their all to ensure we continue to build on our success while promoting our company values and not losing sight of our company ambition. Our commitment to keeping our employees and their families safe will continue to be a top priority as we charge ahead, growing our staff, and expanding our slate of projects.
As we begin 2021, we’re currently working on 5 amazing games across our two studios, including leading development on an original IP, helping on Halo Infinite in partnership with 343 Industries, and three other AAA co-development projects not yet announced. It’s an exciting time to be part of Certain Affinity, which also means we’re hiring for many new positions in Austin, Toronto, and remotely, which you can view on our Careers page.
To start the year strong we have made a number of changes on how we work effectively together while working from home, offered more enhanced employee benefits to better support our teams and their families, and provided more opportunities for folks to get connected with each other while keeping our employees safe. Some highlights include:
- We’ve added a new health plan option that covers 100% of healthcare costs for employees and their families
- We’ve added additional support for mental health, ergonomics support, and recharge benefits
- We have a generous paid time-off policy that accounts for total years of professional experience, not just industry experience
- We maintain flexibility for our employees to work from another location based on approval
In addition, we continue working with our architects to improve our safe work environment, in anticipation of the day when we are able to return to work. We are looking at everything from air filtration and ventilation systems to automatic door openers and decreased seating density in our dev areas. We are also considering expanding and further improving the outdoor spaces in our Austin office to provide more ways for our folks to stay mobile, get outside, and get fresh air.
Our commitment to staying engaged and involved in the local community also continues in 2021. We have many exciting efforts currently planned that we look forward to sharing throughout the year. In addition, November 1st, 2021 will mark 15 years since Certain Affinity turned on the lights. We are really proud of this milestone and can’t wait to share more of our celebratory events with you all later in the year.
Trivia: Did you know that the 15th anniversary is the “Crystal” Anniversary?
