Certain Affinity is looking for a kick-ass Senior Level Designer to complement our stellar design team.
Designers at Certain Affinity are responsible for creating levels that pull players in and have tons of replayability. From the initial concept and layouts, to scripting and assisting the environment art team in making visually stunning spaces, designers at Certain Affinity are involved in all aspects in the creation of our missions. The Senior Level Designer will:
- Work closely with the Design Lead and Environment Lead to help deliver levels that match the creative vision and product goals of the game.
- Work with other designers, artists, and engineers to design and develop intense and challenging single player encounters with tons of atmosphere to white-knuckle multiplayer levels that get players screaming in excitement.
- Significantly contribute to the overall design and flow of the mission by using his/her understanding of the intricacies of creating entertaining and compelling missions.
- Create level design documents for mission flow, and 2D maps to convey game vision, ideally in the FPS genre, with little or no oversight.
- Collaborate with development team to facilitate idea generation and feature implementation.
- 4+ years relevant gaming experience, preferably as a Senior Level Designer.
- Shipped at least 1 title in the FPS genre.
- Single Player and/or Multiplayer experience.
- Experience with all stages of game development, including (but not limited to) level design, AI design, encounter design, and pacing.
- Ability to use world building tools such as Radiant, UnrealEd, Hammer, Max, and/or Maya.
- Ability to dissect and understand core game mechanics and enhance them through mission design.
- Ability to manage hard deadlines (for self and team) while adjusting to changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to solve tough problems that would normally stump a less-experienced level designer.
- Scripting and/or Programming experience
- Experience working on multiple platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, XBLA, etc.)
- Creative writing/story creation and dialogue experience
- Systems design experience
