Lead Level Designer

We’re looking for a self motivated and creative Lead Level Designer to help us lead a group of talented level designers in building exciting and engaging missions. We’re seeking someone that can mentor a diverse team of senior to junior designers, offering insightful feedback and direction while keeping everyone on task. We also want someone that isn’t afraid to dive into the trenches and get dirty designing and constructing missions. Requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of level design experience
  • Worked on at least one console title as a senior or lead level designer from concept through project completion
  • Demonstrable experience designing engaging single player and multiplayer FPS levels
  • Uncanny awareness of what it takes to create memorable engagements and events that keep people talking for years after the game’s release
  • Proven ability to create fresh, new levels
  • Solid understanding of mission structure, encounter design, and overall game pacing
  • Must be able to collaborate with team members and have an uncanny knack for seeing the issues underlying any criticism or complaint
  • Need to be able to manage and challenge a team of designers to create only the highest of quality content
  • Must be able to act as the bridge between design and other departments throughout the development of a product
  • Ability to lead the design of development tools to enable the design team to build the best possible experience for players within the scope of a product cycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change
  • Completely self-motivated and self-managed
  • A passion for games and gaming

Extra Credit:

  • Bachelor’s (BA) degree from accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • Experience with designing multiplayer experiences and online social systems
  • Experience with creative writing/story creation and dialogue
  • Experience working on games across multiple genres, especially RPGs and FPSs
  • Experience working on XBLA, PSN, or WiiWare products
  • Scripting and/or Programming experience
  • Familiarity with common development engines and tools (Unreal, id Tech, Max, Maya, Photoshop)
