Interface Designer
Certain Affinity is looking for a talented Interface Designer to help plan and build compelling interfaces for future projects.
As a User Interface designer you will contribute to the vision for the offline and online user experience for our games as well as how that experience can extend to online communities on the web. You will work directly with the Creative Director and Design Lead for each project to ensure that the gameplay interface is easily understood and accessible by the player. You will work directly with the team to clearly present interface and user experience ideas to various groups to help build consensus for a unified UI direction.
Essential Functions:
DESIGN
- Design a suite of features for the online experience for our games that encourages a friendly, approachable, and inclusive community.
- Ability to manage and act as a UI lead on specific projects, including taking ownership of project deadlines and deliverables and driving usability testing.
- Create conceptual wireframes, user flow diagrams, and low-fidelity prototypes for discussion and testing purposes.
- Collaborate with visual design to create high-fidelity mockups to solidify design direction and planning.
- Create working prototypes for usability and proof-of-concept testing.
- Collaborate with our design teams on the design of multiplayer and online game features that fit together into a seamless user experience.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to brainstorm and drive innovation in online functionality and features.
- Produce finished shipping design specs.
GENERAL
- Experience as an interface or user experience designer for web or game title applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a solid understanding of user-centered design principles to design a complete interface for all game features that is ultimately functional, usable, appealing, and accessible.
- Awareness of trends in interface, interactive design and competitive software to help identify opportunities for innovation.
- Ability to observe, understand and translate research into actionable insights for interface improvements.
- Ability to identify usability testing requirements and drive methods to achieve testing.
- Solid skills with Adobe illustrator or similar program.
PLUSES
- Game industry experience designing UI for games, preferably on the console.
- Game industry experience working on gameplay systems.
- Gamer, particularly online and console games.
- Artistic skills.
