Simple quest idea
I loved the unicorn challenge and would like to see even one simple quest for a little more end game replayability.
I picture 3 different challenges within the existing levels that give you pieces you can exchange for a nice new item at a special vendor. The pieces can just be mid-range armor/weapons/artifacts with special icons to work within the existing simplified inventory system.
The challenges can be:
- take no damage through several waves of enemies on some part of a level.
- when you get to the end of a level, instead of exiting, if you travel back a little ways in the level you find a bonus challenge with a few waves of tough enemies.
- destroy 10 statues of asturi scattered around a level.
Completing a challenge spawns treasure chest(s) in the middle of the room, or gives the item after completing the level.
If you complete the challenge, take all 3 items to the special vendor who combines them into 1 end game item. The quest vendor gives info on where to find the challenges, but they can be found without having to talk to him. Maybe the quest item you can earn can just be sitting there for "purchase" next to the quest vendor if it makes it easier to implement.
