Certain Affinity (CA) was founded in 2006 as a bootstrap startup with the goal of creating innovative, top-quality action games. CA brings together an exceptionally experienced, unusually talented group to form the largest independent developer in Austin, Texas. The company’s 130 full-time employees include veterans from dozens of successful game studios, with Max Hoberman, CA’s founder and former Multiplayer and Online lead for the Halo series, serving as President.
CA has built a strong reputation as the go-to co-development partner for AAA action titles, with recent contributions to World of Tanks, Call of Duty, and DOOM. In fact, the highly prolific studio has been lead developer or co-developer on more than 25 products across 10 different franchises, with combined sales of more than 100 million units. Prior to founding Certain Affinity he spent 10 years at Bungie where he was responsible for bringing the Halo franchise online and it’s resulting success.
20 years of experience in real estate, advertising, business operations and management. Media Production Advisory Committee Member. Majority of time spent at Microsoft focused on sales, marketing and operations. Prior work at Leo Burnett, Cendant, and C21.
20 years of experience in development, general management, and live services. Oversees shared services, including tech ops, UX/UI, and live services. Prior to joining Certain Affinity he worked in senior leadership roles at Battlecry Studios, BioWare, Sony Online Entertainment, and Electronic Arts.
20 years of experience in finance and accounting, working primarily in the tech industry. Oversees the studio’s financial well-being and corporate growth. Prior to joining Certain Affinity, she served in senior leadership roles at 9Gauge Partners, Motion Computing, Merlin International, and PeopleSoft.
