Matchmaking Update
October 30, 2008 -- We updated the matchmaking playlists today. When you sign-in to Xbox LIVE you'll get the new playlists automatically. This update adds a few maps into the mix and shuffles things up a bit to keep matchmaking fresh. We're still not using the free maps that we've released due to trial players not being allowed to download them, but we will address this in the not too distant future. Until then, enjoy!

New Multiplayer Maps
October 27, 2008 -- Today we released three new multiplayer maps: Bombs and Whirlpools, Bloody Wake, and Tell No Tales. When you sign in to Xbox LIVE these maps will automatically download for free and show up in the Official Maps list with a [CA] preceding their name. Each is a tribute to the Battle Royale four team playlist that we recently launched. We plan on integrating these maps into matchmaking in the near future, so start training! If you don't have friends online remember, you can always enable AI opponents.

Matchmaking Updates
October 20, 2008 -- A lot of people have been clamoring for a new matchmaking playlist, so today we unleashed Battle Royale, featuring four teams of two players each. You're probably familiar with this scenario from some of the challenges, but it's ten times more fun with real human opponents. You don't have to do anything special, just load the game and it will be there in the UI.

We've also done some balancing of the 2x2 playlist in order to get a little more map variety. Finally, we've temporarily removed the new downloadable maps from matchmaking, as trial players aren't allowed to download content, and so were getting booted from the lobby when one of these maps was chosen. We'll re-integrate them as soon as possible.

AoB Guide
October 19, 2008 -- We just spotted the first Age of Booty Guide at GameSpy. Looks like a nice combination of introductory explanations and strategic pointers, though a few of the subtleties are overlooked. We'll keep those to ourselves for now though--to maintain our competitive advantage!

AoB LAN Party
October 17, 2008 -- Paul Isaac, Age of Booty's programming lead, had a few friends over for a LAN party last night. Here are a few photos. Yes, that really is Age of Booty-themed lasagna! Ew!

User Reviews
October 17, 2008 -- We've seen many user reviews of Age of Booty but GiantBomb probably has the best collection. Check 'em out.

§

PSN Version Delayed
October 17, 2008 -- Capcom posted a note about delaying the release of the PlayStation Network version of Age of Booty until November. We're a little bummed, of course, but quality really is the driving factor, and given that the Xbox 360 version was completed first it's understandable that it will take a bit longer to perfect the others--same goes for the PC version. To help assuage the pain Capcom has promised Trophy support on PSN, sweet!

§

Reviews Start Rolling In
October 16, 2008 -- Less than 24 hours after release and reviews are already showing up. Official Xbox Magazine says "it's incredibly easy to get hooked — think 'Catan for the rest of us.'" IGN says "Age of Booty is a well-crafted game with sharp humor, slick presentation and an addictive multiplayer setup." Check Your HUD wraps up with "I can honestly say it's well worth the asking price of $10."

Age of Booty Releases on XBLA!
October 15, 2008 -- Age of Booty launched on Xbox LIVE Arcade this morning. Woo! Grab a copy and hop online, it's a blast! If you're still wanting to know more about the game give the trial a shot, or check out what the guys from NooBTooB had to say about their experience winning the Age of Booty tournament at the launch party (skip forward to 23:10). Be warned: their enthusiasm equals a lot of pirate slang. Now if only they had actually played against the developers, like they seem to think. (And yes, NooBTooB, consider that a challenge!)
